Savings Tips:  Flush your water heater tank.  Scale and deposit build-up in the tank not only wastes energy due to lower heating efficiency, but can shorten the life of the heating elements and cause premature tank failure.  Simply turn off the gas valve or circuit breaker (if electric), connect a garden hose to the drain valve, discharge outdoors in a downgrade area (driveway or gravel preferable).  Open the drain valve and run water for several minutes until hose runs clear of debris and color.  Don't forget to turn on the circuit breaker and light the gas pilot.
